Coconut Daughters Film: The Only Road to Khayelitsha

See the movie "The Only Road to Khayelitsha," a movie by the Coconut Daughters: story about a South African 15-year-old girl named Thuli who dreams of life beyond her township. Founded by three sisters passionate about the arts and storytelling, Coconut Daughters creates film, theatre and multimedia about women and girls. Making this film involved months of interviews with the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), South Africa's leading human rights organization. Veterans of the Apartheid struggle revealed that violence, poverty, and HIV/AIDS are part of the everyday life of women and girls in South Africa. This film explores not only their suffering but also their dreams.
