Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Originally a symbol of enlightenment, Lady Liberty has since become a symbol of welcoming for immigrants. While visiting the museum there and at Ellis Island, I found some cartoons of interest. What some of the cartoons are stressing is that it is important to remember that unless you are Native American, we were all immigrants to the US, and that people from all over the world give up so much to come to the land of opportunity - which sometimes should be taken as a compliment to the society we live in.
