Familias Unidas Townhall in Colorado

Congressman Luis Gutierrez and Congressman Jared Polis hosted an event today in Northglenn, CO- Familias Unidas- in which there was attendance of over 1600 people. Representative Gutierrez has been touring the country holding these townhalls in more than 22 cities to try to raise awareness and bring attention to the need for immigration reform. Today, we heard from a teacher, health care professtional, immigrant, and children who have all been affected by our broken immigration system. While this forum was meant as a call to action, it was very emotional hearing the stories of so many broken families. Representative Gutierrez urged everyone to call the President so put pressure on him so that he does not cancel anymore meeting about immigration reform. There are real lives at stake- there should at least be a moratorium on raids and deportatations until the immigration system is fixed.
